NC STATE DEFEATS WVU 23-7 IN THE CHAMPS SPORTS BOWL. LAST GAME FOR RUSSELL WILSON!!!

If tuesday nights Champs sports bowl victory by NC State over WVU was Russell Wilson's final game for the Wolfpack, what a way to close out your college career.  Wilson 28/45 for 275 yds and 2 td's had a tremendous game against the 22nd ranked mountaineers on the warm tundra of the florida citrus bowl in Orlando (sorry, thinking about the bears @ packers this sun). Russell's dilemma is will he come back for his senior year, or will he focus solely on baseball. Its well known that he wants to play both, the problem is he was drafted in the fourth round by the Colorado Rockies and given an estimated 250,000 signing bonus (wow maybe my sophomore in college daughter (Kristen) should call him lol). Too me the answer is clear, what ever the Rockies want goes. their the ones who forked over the quarter mill, and if Colorado's down with him playing all spring and summer for them (won't make the bigs this year anyway) then Wilson should come back and chase his NFL dream and play one more year. State has alot of returning players coming back and a great recruiting class coming in  (only person that wouldn't be happy is MIke Glennon, oops) so next year could up his draft stock (size is scouts main concern * look at Drew Brees, nuff said) with another year of solid play. MY Take = He comes back after the Rockies give their blessing and he plays baseball till aug, and gets the blessing from Tom O'brien to miss spring practice or at least most it and come back for a month of prep before the first game in sept 2011. This makes everybody happy and the wolfpack faithful thinking ACC championship and a BCS berth..

WHO'S THE BEST TEAM IN FOOTBALL. BRADY AND THE FOXBORO PATRIOTS THATS WHO....

The Foxboro patriots known as the New England patriots but actually represents the Boston area (that's a mouth full) would have to be on everybody's list as their favorite to not only get to super bowl, but be a heavy favorite to win it all come february (yes feb) with three weeks left to go in the regular season. After dismantling the NY jets 45-3 the week before (jets where talking all sorts of smack leading up to the game) the Patriots came to Soldier field in Chicago to play the bears (winners of 5 in a row) in blinding snow and wind last sunday. The bears thought they had everything going for them, home field, bad weather and Lovie Smith (sic). What did they get, the worst half time deficit (33-0) in the history of the franchise. The bears deceided to play mostly zone against Brady (dumbasses, he's only one the most accurate passers in history) and he proceeded to pick them apart, (especially with no bears pass rush) by throwing to his little flea receivers (Welker & co).

With a remaining schedule of the packers (no Aaron Rodgers take the pats and lay the points) Schabes pick of the week.... @ Buffalo and at home vs Miami to finish the season, the patriots should have home field throughout the playoffs (PLAYOFFS, WHO'S TALKING ABOUT PLAYOFFS!!!....see commercial). The only AFC team I see beating them would be the ravens, because of their defense and with the ability to get to the QB. The only way to stop the pats is to knock Brady on his keister, because as he did against the jets and bears which is stand their all day, he'll pick you apart. So with the super bowl 7 weeks away I hope somebody can beat the pats in the playoffs so my beloved bears don't have to play them again (ouch), hopefully da coach can take care of dat with the da powers that he has................

December and the NFL, with 5 games left, who's gonna make the "PLAYOFFS"

December to some means the holidays, shopping and going to strip clubs ( I mean getting together with friends and family), but to Schabesonsports, the NFL becomes front and center with just 5 weeks to go to see who's in the playoffs and who's not. As of today here are your top six teams in each conference that would be in the post season if the playoffs started today.
NFC - Eagles 7-4 east  Da Bears 8-3 north  Falcons 9-3 south Rams 5-6 (pew) west
Wild card teams two make it - Saints 8-3 Three tied for the last spot Packers,  Bucs, and Giants 7-4

AFC - Jets 9-2 east  Jaguars 6-5 south Chiefs 7-4 west Ravens 8-3 north
Wild card Patriots 9-2  Steelers (easy Dana Borger there in) 8-3

The great thing that can happen with 5 weeks to go, is that anything can happen to any of these teams.  One of these teams can choke and be out, or almost anybody (less the Rams) could play themselves into home field advantage throughout the playoffs (coach Ditka and Schabes would like Da Bears to go all the way).

Surprising teams on the outside looking in.   Indy (no running game to help Manning)  Vikings (early super bowl favorites) and the disapointing Houston Texans (was finally going to be there break out year) just to name a few.

Game of the week - Jets @ Patriots mon. Winner sets up shop to be best in AFC!!!.

Week two of Gratuitous female sports pick of the week. Drum roll please....................

DA BEARS VS THE DOLPHINS, THUR NIGHT NFL ON NFL NETWORK (HOPE YOU GOTTA DISH)!!!

I hope you gotta dish (satellite, not a hot babe!!!) on thur night when the Bears take on the Dolphins thur night on the NFL network. The dum asses at NFL network and time warner cable can't come together on a deal to add the network to their system. In time warners defense NFL network wants a stagering 80 cents a subscriber per month when the network is really only relevant for about 8 weeks a year (unless you like watching replays of the games, or watch Rich Eisen approach kojack status a little more each week on the pre game show). The sports bars have got to be loving this and thats ok with me and should give a little bump to the bars.......

Prediction : Da Bears 31 Dolphins 20.  Dolphins are banged up pretty good and have to start Tyler Pigpen (sorry) Thigpen at QB. Bears are healthy and if Cutler can throw the ball to his own team in the red zone, the Bears should have a big night.

QUICK TAKE: Donovan Mcnabb gets 5 years 78 million dollars, wtf is that and then goes out and throws three picks and the Redskins get blown out 59 to 28. What does that make Michael Vick worth next year? (just sayin).......

New on schabes on sports.  A gratuitous pic of a hot sports chic (sorry ladies) of schabes on sports please give suggestions for hot sport guys pics LOL..................

BRETT FAVRE SHOWS HIS "JUNK" THEN SHOWS HIS TOUGHNESS, BUT ITS TIME TO RETIRE BRETT!!!

I went to deadspin.com last week to check out the Brett Favre voice mails to Jen Sterger and to see "little Brett" (looked like a little old hot dog that sat out to long) and laughed my crack off. No wonder Jen blew him off (no pun intended), plus his voice messages had no playa ability at all (sounded like a nervous teenager), dude should stick with his wife, sterger by the way looks like a younger deanna favre. check her out!!!

Moving on to point two, never in the history of sports have I ever heard of a guy have who has two fractures in his leg from the week before and play the next sunday. Only Brett Favre rubs some dirt on it and plays the next sunday. Like him or not he's gotta be the toughest QB in NFL history!!!. Toughest player everrrrr Dick Butkus!!!.

Finally I have to say it Brett, its time to "RETIRE".  Most of your mobility is gone, the arm strenght is still their, but after seeing him take that shot to the chin (8 stitches) I picture a stretcher and a laid out Favre carted off the field. So after 20 yrs and one ring Brett its time to retire for the four or fifth time "AND MEAN IT".

NC STATE TAKES ON EASY U OOPS ECU IN GREENVILLE ON SAT, TIME TO GET BOWL ELIGIBLE

The 5-1 wolfpack take on the 3-2  pirates of easy (darn it) ecu on sat at high noon in Greenville. Its time for the wolfpack to show their ready for prime time ( florida state coming up on thur night 10/28 on espn) and put a woopin on ecu in their building. If they do, and beleive me it won't be easy, they should be ranked in the top 25 going into the fl state game with the winner in the driver seat to get to the acc title time. I gotta give kudos to ecu (finally got it right lol) they came back last week on the road against so. miss to win 44 to 43 after trailing 20 nothin after the first quarter. The key to the game for state as always is qb Russell Wilson. When he throws three picks like he did against vt. they lose, when he plays like he did against ga tech or Boston college its a no brainer. Ecu's defense is poorus and gives up alot of points but they play hard for 60 min. and never give up under new coach Rufin Mcneill. With a win tomorrow state will become bowl eligible but a new years day bowl should be their goal or should I dare to saaaaaay BCS berth. I know I know one friggin game at a time.

#23 NC STATE VS VA TECH TOMORROW 3:30 ON ABC, BIGGEST GAME SINCE PHILLIP RIVERS ERA!!!

NC STATE vs va tech  (notice va tech not capitalized) plays tomorrow at Carter Finley stadium or at what I like to call, the house that Chuck Amato and Phillip Rivers re built. Va Tech comes a calling, game time 3:30 on abc, with the winner taking a big step towards the acc title game in their division and a BCS birth in jan.

The key to this and every game this year for state so far is the sensational play of qb Russell Wilson. In the first four games so far this year (4-0) he has thrown 11 td's and only one int. If he has a typical rw game and also makes plays with his feet, state should win this game and go 5-0 (2-0) in the acc. I'll give one thing to Va Tech, they are one of the great fan following teams in the country. there will be a lot of chokie (hokie) fans who don't go to the dentist to often (unless its gotta be pulled out!!!) rooting there team to victory so it should be a lot fun at the old ball park maniana.      Schabes prediction State 24 va tech 20. Stay thirsty my friends.

DID CALVIN JOHNSON CATCH A TOUCHDOWN??? THAT'S LIKE ASKING HAS TIGER WOODS HAD ALOT SEX PARTNERS IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS!!!

Yes he did, Yes he did. The rule book says he didn't but holy s#@t you gotta be kidding me. I'm one of biggest Bears fans out there and with a house full of Bears fans, we where very happy at first but when we saw the replay, we all  just started shaking our heads and laughing because we knew how horrible a call it was and would have been goin wild if it went against the Bears. This easily was the second worst call in NFL history. The worst call was the tuck rule call against the Raiders back in the 2001 playoffs, that launched the Patriots, who went on to win the super bowl two games later. When a receiver catches the ball in the end zone, has two feet down and is still holding the ball, that's a touchdown period. The good news is the Bears are goin to the super bowl because of this play. lol!!!

Schabes play of the week: NC State upsets Cincinnati 28 -21 to go 3-0 and go ski high into ACC conference play next week.
